Military Laptops
Which Laptop should I choose?
You’ve got quite a choice – from small and slim models to gaming workhorses. And depending on your budget, you want to get the most bang for your buck, right? Well, here are some helpful tips to make sure you’re getting the laptop model that’s right for you and your budget. Some of this information has been condensed from the Consumer Reports Buying Guide 2006, and from feedback from people like you in the field:
Golden Rules:
Here are two Golden Rules that are important in buying a laptop versus a desktop.
Don't just buy a laptop for today:
Consider that your laptop will be with you for at least a year before you decide to upgrade or replace it. So think hard about what you might also want from your laptop in a year or so.
Remember that a desktop is much easier to upgrade than a laptop.
How careful are you?:
Seriously, if you are one of those people who drops your cellphone or crunches your sunglasses on occasion, then most likely you’re going to need a laptop that can take that kind of abuse.
Fortunately, we have just the solution….take a look at our Durabook ruggedized laptop that is crash proof and spill resistant and is still sleek and portable. Desktops on the other hand don’t generally need to be moved around as much so you’re less likely to need this added protection.
Features That Count
Once you’ve decided on a laptop, one of the first questions you need to ask yourself is if you are a gamer or not? If you are even a casual gamer, you are going to want to choose one of the Ultimate Gaming Packages. That’s because gaming laptops have the one important, but expensive, ingredient which is the Video Graphics card.
If you are not a gamer, next ask yourself which features are most important to you:
- Screen Size and quality
- Processor Speed
- Weight
- Memory and RAM
- Battery Life
- CD/DVD Burner
All the laptop models on our site are wireless-network equipped so you can link to a hot spot or your wireless network connection. They all have a one-year manufacturer’s warranty backed by our extended limited lifetime warranty. And they all are light and portable. They also all have at a minimum a CD/DVD combo drive to play your music and watch your movies.
We have three Laptop Packages to meet your needs:
The ALPHA Package features laptops that are light and powerful and meet most of your basic computing needs.
The BRAVO Package features laptops that are great for business and study needs and offer gaming functionality. Get one of these when you value the following additional features:
- A built-in Video Camera for instant messaging on Yahoo! and MSN Messenger
- Bluetooth enabled to print without wires to similarly equipped printers.
- A 5 in 1 Card reader for your digital camera pictures.
- ATI or NVidia gaming graphics
The CHARLIE Package features laptops that offer Multimedia services and are desktop replacement entertainment centres. If you are looking for a laptop to use more for entertainment (for example, downloading movies, and watching TV), then choose from one of our Charlie Packages. These laptops are big on features, but the trade-off is that they are a little heavier than the average laptop and not that portable. Think of these more as a desktop replacement. All of these laptops will have big screen sizes (17” and up) and will have DVD burners, and 5 in 1 Card readers. They will all have decent video graphics but will not be able to handle any kind of extreme gaming.
